Day 01: Arrival Cochin / Drive to Munnar (130 kms /4.5 hrs drive)
On arrival Cochin, you will receive a warm welcome at the International Airport by our representative and drive straight to Munnar. One of the most popular hill stations in India; Munnar is situated at the confluence of three Mountain streams - Mudrapuhza, Nallathanni and Kundala. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 02: Munnar
After breakfast depart visit Tea Museum, set up at the Nallathanni Estate of Tata Tea in Munnar is a fitting tribute to the toils and rigorous of its pioneers. A section of the Tea museum also houses classic bungalow furniture, typewriters, wooden bathtub, magneto phone, iron oven, manual calculators and EPABX of the 1909 telephone system.
Mattupetty (13 km from Munnar) Situated at a height of 1700 Mts, Mattupetty is famous for its highly specialized dairy farm, the Indo-Swiss livestock project. Over 100 varieties of high yielding cattle are reared here. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 03: Munnar – Thekkady (Periyar) (110 kms / around 3.5 hrs drive) (B)
After breakfast drive to Thekkady. On arrival transfer to hotel. After a bit relaxation proceed for Spice Plantation Tour:
This tour is a prime attraction of this beautiful land. Plantations of cardamom, rubber, vanilla and coffee are also aplenty. Walk amidst the green, terraced farms in Thekkady. Late afternoon (around 1600 hrs, timings are subject to change) proceed to visit Kalaripayattu show. Considered among the oldest and most scientific martial arts in the world, Kalaripayattu was developed in Kerala. Lauded as the pride of Kerala, it is acknowledged and respected across the world. The training begins with an oil massage of the entire body until it is agile and supple. Feats like jumping, running and somersault are also integral parts of the art form. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 04: Thekkady (Periyar) (B)
Kerala is most famous for the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. The picturesque village surrounded by small, attractive looking cottages amid the spice gardens, is one of the most peaceful locations of Kerala.
Boat-ride: Early morning transfer to Periyar Lake to enjoy boating and view wildlife.
Back to hotel for breakfast.
Afternoon around 1500 hrs depart for nature walk in Periyar National Park.
Back to hotel by 1630 hrs. Later proceed to visit Kalaripayattu show. Considered among the oldest and most scientific martial arts in the world, Kalaripayattu was developed in Kerala. There are also lessons in using weapons like swords, daggers, spears, maces, and bows and arrows. The primary aim is the ultimate coordination between mind and body. Back to hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 05: Drive Periyar - Mararikulam (160 Kms / around 4 hrs) (B)
After breakfast drive to Marari. On arrival transfer to hotel.
Mararikulam is a beach village. The name comes from Marari (Lord Siva) who is the main deity of the place. It has a very beautiful beach which is known by the name Marari Beach or Mararikulam Beach. It was rated as one of the world's top five hammock beach by National Geographic survey. Marari is a nature lover's paradise and a morning stroll is a fine way to introduce yourself to the Malabar coasts unique ecosystem and explore its myriad charms. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 06: Mararikulam (B)
Breakfast at hotel. Full day free to enjoy beach. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 07: Mararikulam - Cochin (60 Kms / around 2 hrs drive) (B)
After breakfast drive to Cochin. On arrival transfer to hotel.
Later proceed to visit St. Francis Church, built in 1503 by Portuguese Franciscan friars where Vasco De Gama was buried for 14 years before his remains were transferred to Lisvon. Nearby is the Mattancherry Palace or ‘Dutch Palace’ (Friday closed). Amazing are the Chinese fishing nets. They were introduced by traders from the courts of Kublai Khan. You will also see Jew City with Jewish Synagogue (Fridays & Saturdays closed), constructed in 1568, with hand-painted, willow-pattern floor tiles.
Mahatma Gandhi Road, more popularly known as MG Road or Lulu Mall are the commercial center of Kochi. It is a very fun place to shop at, with many colorful stores lining the road. This area is a paradise to every shopaholic out there. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 08: Cochin – Departure (B)
Transfer to airport for onward destination.
